Prueba de aliento para Helicobacter pylori

Breath test for Helicobacter pylori

The breath test for Helicobacter pylori is a non-invasive and highly reliable method for diagnosing infection with this bacteria.

To perform the test, you must blow into a special sample collection bag, then take a urea tablet with water. If Helicobacter pylori is present in your stomach, it will transform the urea, and after 20 minutes, you must blow into another bag. The samples are sent to the laboratory, and the result is available on the same day.

I recommend taking the breath test in the following cases:

  1. You need to confirm if you have eliminated the bacteria with treatment.
  2. Your partner or children tested positive for Helicobacter pylori.
  3. Your biopsy came out normal, but there is a suspicion of a false negative.
  4. You have atrophy or intestinal metaplasia.
  5. You are pregnant and need to know if you have the infection.
  6. No biopsies were taken during your endoscopy.
  7. You have other conditions that may be related to this bacteria, such as iron deficiency anemia, vitamin B12 deficiency, urticaria, psoriasis, rosacea, or thrombocytopenic purpura.
